Częstochowa is one of the most important centers of religious worship in Poland, it is regarded by many as Poland's spiritual capital and for hundreds of years, it has been a site of pilgrimage for Poles.

High on the mountain top, the monastery holds the most famous shrine to the Virgin Mary in Poland and it is home to the Black Madonna painting - rumored to have been painted by St. Luke on a tabletop built by Jesus. The Black Madonna, depicting the Mother of God with the Christ Child, is believed to have miraculous powers by those who visit her.

It is also possible to reserve a private guided tour on request.

Pass By: Sanctuary of Divine Mercy, Lagiewniki District, Krakow 30-608 Poland

Located in the southern part of Krakow Shrine of The Divine Mercy (Polish: Sanktuarium Bożego Miłosierdzia) is the world's largest centre of devotion to the Divine Mercy. It is the place where every year millions of pilgrims from all over the world come asking for numerous graces. On premises of the vast Sanctuary the Congregation of the Sisters of God's Mother of Mercy, the main church, an array of chapels and few other building complexes are found.

The shape of the church relates to the rays that spring from the heart of the Lord as he appeared in the vision of St. Faustyna Kowalska. She was a member of the Congregation, a nun and a mystic, canonised by Pope John Paul II in 2000. This image of Merciful Jesus which is considered to have miraculous and healing properties is placed above the side altar in Łagiewniki whereas its copies and reproductions are spread throughout the whole world.

Taking this tour you will also see the statue of Our Lady of Mercy, statues of St. Stanisław Kostka and St. Mary Magdalene, a picture of St. Joseph with the Child and a coffin with relics of St. Sister Faustina resting on the altar below the image.

Also, from the viewing tower placed over there you can enjoy marvellous panoramic view of the city.
